Nigerians who are yet to enroll and acquired their National Identity Number(NIN) can now do so in some MTN, Airtel, Globacom and 9mobile retail outlets across the country.
The Federal Government has granted the telco verification and enrolment license to register citizens, and the ISPs, Airtel,Glo, MTN and 9Mobile have commenced National Identification Number (NIN) registration in retail outlets across Nigeria.
Airtel says while select retail outlets in Lagos and Abuja are now fully operational to register Nigerians for the NIN exercise, work is currently ongoing to expand its NIN footprints to cover more areas and States.
Addressing this new development, Segun Ogunsanya, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Thanked the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, for expanding the registration footprints and taking definitive steps to make easy the NIN registration process for the citizens.
“Airtel is always seeking opportunities to cooperate and partner with the Nigerian government on initiatives that will make life easier and better for Nigerians. As a law abiding and responsible corporate citizen, we are always ready to go extra mile for our esteemed stakeholders and that is why we are pleased to partner with the Federal Government and the National Identity Management Commission on citizens’ registration exercise”, he said.
Also MTN’s Senior Manager, External Relations, Funso Aina, announced that they have secured Nigerian Identity Management Commission licence for NIN enrollment and had begun enrollment at some of its centres in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja, and will expand the exercise to other states and registration outlets
He equally stated that the telco has invested funds in acquiring that meets the NIMC standards for the NIN enrollment exercise.
Similarly, Globacom has also commenced NIN registration across her registration outlets in the country and are set to expand this exercise to other outlets.

“We have deployed devices aligned with NIMC standards across several Gloworld outlets and are making immediate arrangements for our other centres across the country to commence. Our objective is to create more opportunities for Nigerians who are yet to enrol for their NIN to do so more conveniently,” the statement read.
9mobile on the other hand is set to officially announce the commencement of NIN registration exercise across their outlet, although there is no official statement from the Telco yet.
The Telcos are aiding the NIMC on the NIN enrollment exercise to save their customers who are yet to have the National Identity Number(NIN) from being disconnected on their networks as instructed by the federal Govt.
