Facebook Now Pays Users For Their Voice Recordings

The social media giant “Facebook” has offered to pay users for their voice recordings, According to The Verge, the social giant will let you make voice recordings as part of a new program called ‘Pronunciation’ in its Viewpoints market research app to improve its speech recognition capabilities, read on to learn what’s this program is all about and why Facebook will pay you for it.

Facebook has long been know for their privacy issues within the US and EU, having paid millions of dollars in fine due to various security bleaches and users privacy leack, well it seems like they resorted to been open with the privacy data they correct from users and are even ready to pay users who opt in to their new program tagged “Pronunciation”

If you happen to qualify to be part of the program you will record with the phrase ‘Hey Portal’ followed by the first name of a friend from your friends list. You will be able to do this with the name of up to 10 friends, and you will have to record the statement twice.

But wait, is this another means of earning thousands of dollars from Facebook? NO, it isn’t, the pay is low, according to Verge:
Facebook won’t be paying much for your recordings,” The Verge says, “though. If you complete one set of recordings, you will get 200 points in the Viewpoints app — and you can’t cash out in the Viewpoints app until you earn at least 1,000 points. That only translates to a $5 reward via PayPal. However, Facebook says users may be offered the opportunity to make up to five sets of recordings, so there is the potential to meet that 1,000- point goal and get paid.

Regarding users privacy, Facebook has assured users that the recording wouldn’t be connected to their Facebook profile explaining that they wouldn’t share Viewpoints activity on Facebook or other service owned by Facebook without their consent.
