Google To Shut Down Google Plus

Google has announced that the Google plus service will be shut down following a security breach, the internet Giant “Google” made this conclusion after the discovery of a software bug that gave developers access to private profile data of over 500,000 users. according to Google, the bug was discovered in March 2018. A report in the Wall Street Journal says Google did not disclose this information sooner because it feared regulatory scrutiny.

However the security breach is not the sole reason for the shut down as Google admits that Google+ has failed to achieve broad consumer or developer adoption since its introduction, reporting that the usage and engagement of Google+ is even lower than some might have guessed, as 90 percent of user sessions lasted less than 5 seconds.

Its argued that Google + will not likely to be missed that much, though some group of persons is mourning over the proposed shut down as the google plus is their “early morning!! late night” the likes of Lewis who is among a tiny but fiercely loyal cadre of Google+ users who stuck with the site for years, undeterred even as Google carved it into pieces or outsiders declared it dead

“It’s really been a lifeline for me,” said Lewis, who created a group called “Google+ Mass Migration” in the hopes of salvaging his adopted community. “The social interactions I’d have there I couldn’t get anywhere else.”

Google plus since its introduction in 2011 has been tagged Googles Orphan Child, as little effort is made by the company to bring google plus to the trends like monetization with ads etc, although the lack of this feature is what most Google+ users cherish on the platform as it focuses on topics to connect people — instead of existing friendships or public figures — created a platform that encouraged real, sustained dialogue with strangers.
